COURSES & TRAINING
CMCS regularly provides teaching and training for theological colleges, schools, charities, public bodies and companies on topics such as Understanding Islam, Christian-Muslim Relationships, Comparative Readings in the Bible & Qur’an and Global Religion.
From time to time CMCS organises study days on topics of particular interest either at our centre or through external bodies such as the university. For instance, instance in 2016 we ran a day looking at the disturbing texts about wars and divine commands to fight in the Bible and Qur’an, which gave participants an opportunity to read those texts and explore how Muslims, Christians and others may interpret them GET IN TOUCH
Whilst CMCS does not provide undergraduate teaching, it does sometimes run short courses either at the centre or through the university. These will be advertised on the website and through the university. Our most recent course , run at the Oxford University Department of Continuing Education, was FROM MEDINA TO MARRAKECH: INTER-FAITH RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CHRISTIANITY & ISLAM and looked at whether Christianity and Islam are locked in a 'clash of civilizations'. Taught by a Muslim and a Christian, this course outlined the role of Christianity and Islam, explored their shared history and examined current conflicts and their significance for global peace.
